Horizon of Nature: The Most Beautiful Time of the Year at a Small Lake in the Siming Mountains

Early spring is the most beautiful time of the year at a small lake in the Siming Mountains. The blue of the water, the light green of the newly-sprouted leaves, and the bright red of the blooming rhododendrons form a picturesque scene. If you are lucky, you might even see wild mandarin ducks. This lake is called the Shigumen Shuiku (Shigumen Reservoir) of Longguan Township, Haishu. It is not far away from Tongkeng village. Locals say that the water's blueness may have something to do with high levels of cooper ions in the environment; there is a cooper mine nearby.
